Looking for peaceful reefs, exciting wrecks, and uncrowded dive sites?
Welcome to Sipalay.
Located on the west coast of Negros Occidental, Sipalay offers colourful coral reefs, fascinating wrecks, macro life, and relaxed diving.
Our Sea Explorers dive centre is located directly on Sugar Beach. It is the perfect place to dive, slow down, and enjoy the quieter side of the Philippines.
Sipalay is also a great starting point for a longer diving adventure. Combine it with Dauin or join selected M/Y Gypsy expeditions to Cagayancillo and Tubbataha Reef.
Why Dive in Sipalay?
Sipalay offers something for many types of divers.
You can explore:
- Colourful coral gardens
- Submerged reef formations
- Sandy areas with macro life
- Walls and drop-offs
- Shallow and deep wrecks

Many local reefs offer easy and enjoyable conditions. Deeper wrecks and sites with currents may require more experience.

Marine Life in Sipalay
Sipalay’s reefs are home to colourful fish and fascinating small creatures.
Look closely and you may find nudibranchs, frogfish, pipefish, shrimps, crabs, scorpionfish, and juvenile fish.
Turtles, rays, barracuda, jacks, groupers, and schools of reef fish may also pass by.
Every dive is different, and marine-life sightings are never guaranteed. That is part of the adventure.
Popular Sipalay Dive Sites
Marco Polo
Marco Polo is one of Sipalay’s signature dive sites.
This submerged reef begins below the surface and offers beautiful corals, schooling fish, and impressive underwater scenery.
Good buoyancy and descent control are important when diving here.
Julien’s Wreck
Julien’s Wreck is covered with marine growth and attracts plenty of fish.
It is a favourite among wreck lovers and underwater photographers. The dive plan depends on the depth, currents, visibility, and diver experience.
SS Panay
The SS Panay is a deeper wreck for experienced divers.
Careful dive planning and the correct certification are required. Penetration is only possible for divers with proper wreck-diving training.
Local Reefs
Sipalay also has relaxed coral gardens, sandy slopes, and easy reef sites.
These are great for beginner divers, macro lovers, photographers, and afternoon dives.
Turtle Island and Danjugan Island
There is even more to explore beyond Sipalay’s local reefs.
Turtle Island offers coral gardens, clear water, and beautiful island scenery. Trips may include diving, snorkelling, and island hopping.
Danjugan Island is a protected marine and wildlife reserve south of Sipalay. It is known for healthy reefs, lagoons, birdlife, and conservation work.
Trips depend on weather, sea conditions, boat availability, and the required number of guests.
Is Sipalay Good for Beginner Divers?
Yes. Sipalay has several shallow reefs that may be suitable for new divers.
The relaxed environment is also ideal for improving buoyancy, air consumption, and confidence underwater.
Some sites have deeper reefs, wrecks, currents, or blue-water descents. These dives may require an Advanced Open Water certification or more experience.
If you have not dived recently, we may recommend a refresher dive before visiting the more challenging sites.
